Karen’s influences stem from architecture, the beauty of city landscapes and the Elizabethan era of flamboyant dress. Stainless steel mesh cloth, paper and precious metals are combined with textile techniques - folding, pleating, smocking, layering – to create a richly layered textural surface. These extravagant layers create an opulent feel, recalling a past time of exaggeration and decoration - alluding to the past but also innovative and timeless. Karen has recently graduated from The Cass with a BA(Hons) in Jewellery & Silversmithing Design.
